I'm still alive, things are just crazy as usual. Since returning from vacation we've had more snow (which is gone now), but it once again paralyzed the region for a good half a week. The Subaru was employed once more and has now been joined by another. $125, same car basically (1984 GL 4x4 Wagon), but with an engine rebuilt 14k mi ago, though with a blown head gasket (rebuilder didn't own a torque wrench?). Also good are that the new car has a straight frame and clear title, whereas the blue Subaru is salvage. That said, the silver Subie will be the new rally car and the blue one will be stripped for parts. The initial plan is to swap the motor and trans from the blue car into the silver one, using the carb from the silver car (it looks recently rebuilt), and then spend some time cleaning up the mess the blown head gasket made of the silver car's motor. Another bonus, all vacuum lines in the silver car appear to be in place!
The first autocross event of the season is scheduled for Sunday up in Everett, and I've already preregistered the M. I'm looking forward to it as I rarely get to explore the car's limits on public roads (they're just too high). Word is there should be a local rallycross event sometime in early March, so the goal is to have the Subaru ready to take part in that too.
Back to work for now... I'll try to do a better job of updating my blog this year... minimum of 2x a month. We'll see how that goes.
